About Dominion Road

Dominion Rd is one of the most historic and iconic roads in Auckland. Made famous by the Muttonbirds in their song "Dominion Rd" (view video above) this famous strip runs from Eden Terrace in the north to Mt Roskill in the south.

The Dominion Rd Business Association represents some 200+ businesses in Dominion Rd and is a registered incorporated society. The Association is governed by a constitution* in partnership with Auckland Council under the Council’s Business Improvement District Policy. An Executive Committee is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Association and overall financial direction.

The boundaries of the Dominion Rd Business Association extend from approximately Onslow Road at the city end, to Balmoral Road along Dominion Road. A detailed map can be found on the right.

Businesses can visit the members page for further information and associate membership is available for businesses outside the area for $195 + GST by downloading the application form on the right.

Visiting Dominion Road

Dominion Rd is less than 5km from the bottom of Queen Street and just 17km from Auckland Airport.

On road parking is available at all times except between 7am to 10am on the western (city-bound) side of the road and between 4pm to 7pm on the eastern side while bus lanes are operating.

There is a large public parking area in the Eden Quarter area as well as on the side streets of bellevue Rd, Valley View Rd, Ewington Ave, Prospect Ave, Onslow Rd, Walters Rd, Bellwood Ave and Burnley Ave.

In addition there is ample parking behind the Dominion Rd shops on the western side between Bellwood Ave and Walters Rd.

Public Transport

Dominion Road is a major public transport route that carries 50,000 bus passengers each week, making it one of the few roads in Auckland on which similar or greater numbers of people travel by public transport than by private car.

It is also very close to the Kingsland Railway station offering easy access for rail passengers.
